POINT ZERO, Trenčín, Slovakia, 2021. The exhibition Premeny Meriny (Merina in Time) was a response by a group of authors to the demolition of Merina, a textile factory of architectural value in Trenčín, which had housed our ateliers until then. Thanks to this experience, we decided to establish FOR MAAT – a collective and individual fine arts activity platform. We focus on themes such as public space, nature and the environment, and the impact of new technologies on the world. We support marginalised communities, create an inclusive space, and connect the arts with social issues. In 2022, we moved to new premises near Trenčín Railway Station and have been running FOR MAAT Gallery ever since.
FOR MAAT Gallery showcases contemporary art by the younger and mid-career generation of artists, while focusing on new media and intermedia. We aim to engage the local audience and present current trends in contemporary art to the general public. More information about the gallery and the premises.
The team FOR MAAT is primarily made up of visual artists, with production, cultural management, and curatorship being among the many aspects of their work.
