The first publication by FOR MAAT is out!
Metafotografia by Piotr Gąska is a book about photography that was meant to document the world, but ended up documenting itself. The author writes about images that once carried weight and today carry reach; about a medium that has lost its aura, but in return gained the algorithm, the feed, and the unlimited memory of servers on the other side of the world. It is an essay on photographers who wanted to change reality, but ended up in galleries, stock archives, and on social media; on war photographs that now quietly hang on museum walls; on work done “for passion,” that is, for free; and on the millions of images created every day with the firm belief that this one will matter. Without grand promises and without nostalgia for times that—as it turns out—were never really that good, yet with distance, irony, and the awareness that photography still works, just not always in the way we would like.
