Artist: Lukáš Matejka
Curator: Anton Šulík
Lukáš Matejka (b. 1987) earned his doctoral degree in Fine Arts at the Faculty of Fine Arts, Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. His early work focused primarily on painting, but over time he transitioned to moving images, video art, and new media. His artistic practice is grounded in the fusion of various art forms and the creation of innovative multimedia overlaps. Conceptually, his work explores social research, the contrast between humans and nature, and layered critiques of war and institutions.
Matejka is the founder, coordinator, and curator of the international Festival of Light and Shadow. In 2009, he initiated the civic association TRAKT and remains an active member of the Association of Creatives. He has created projections for Studio Dance Theatre in Banská Bystrica, as well as theatrical projections for The Secret of the Skutecký House (Michal Ditte), Paperback (Miro Dacho), and the international contemporary opera-ballet projects Equinoxe and The Last Anniversary. He also collaborates with DigiVAF(ex) Platform, the Contemporary Dance and Theatre Platform P.A.T., the Kremnica Gags festival, the Pôtoň Theatre in Bátovce, and others.
The multimedia project Crisis of Trust focuses on the analysis and deconstruction of phenomena and themes that erode trust within society. The exhibition combines original paintings with an acoustic collage.
