The exhibition “Enchanted Bratislava” seeks to draw attention to the problematic ways in which public space has been understood and shaped in our region since 1989, both architecturally and urbanistically. In this process, public interest has often lost out to private investment interests.

The reality of bizarre new developments emerging across Slovakia—most prominently in the capital city—has already become a kind of historical layer: formally and conceptually emptied, raising the question of who public space truly belongs to. Is it all of us, or only a handful of chosen individuals who manipulate it at will? Who is its true master?
