From Point A to Letter B - Stanislav Piatrik

The project From Point A to Letter B builds on Piatrik’s previous work Words and Surfaces, in which he explores the relationships between photography, text, printmaking, and object-based art. In this project, he works with graphic and screen-printed forms developed during his 2022 residency at Hájovňa in Banská Štiavnica. He plays with the viewer’s perception of the dot as a primary carrier of information—one that only gains meaning through its placement or juxtaposition within a whole. The dot, in its serigraphic manifestation derived from photography and pushed to its limits, is then complemented by text, structured into visual compositions. The letter becomes a dot, and the dot transforms into an image.

Stanislav Piatrik (b. 1979, Levice) completed both his master’s and doctoral studies at the Department of Printmaking at the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica. He works across a variety of contemporary media, including video, photography, painting, performance, and installation. He is currently engaged in collaborative work with Divadlo K (Theatre K).
