FOR MAAT Brussels - Nadežda Koyšová

WATER POLO, 2022, acryl on canvas, 20x20cm

Nadežda Koyšová (1984) is a figurative painter from Trenčín. In 2013, she graduated from the Academy of Arts in Banská Bystrica, from the Studio of Classical Painting Disciplines under Professor Ľudovít Hološka. Her work can be divided into thematic cycles, each focusing intensely on a specific social issue, activity, or expression. At the center of her interest is always the human figure.

Artwork Water polo comes from the Aquabels cycle, which Koyšová has been dedicated to since 2017.

“A numerous series of paintings that has been growing over the years is a reflection of victories, collegiality, rivalry, team spirit, and individuality. It is about the struggle we wage with ourselves—whether we overcome our limits or fail, whether we fight against someone or for someone,” wrote curator Peter Decheť.

The Street Gallery FOR MAAT Brussels is realized in cooperation with the Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Brussels, the Trenčín-based platform FOR MAAT, and Trenčín 2026 – European Capital of Culture.
