Juraj Hubinský’s exhibition Landscape Frottage shows us what happens when an architect starts to paint.
In this series of paintings, a sincere fascination with the medium and painterly techniques blends with dirt, architectural debris, and elements usually hidden deep within the structure of buildings.
With his painterly approach, Juraj “strips architecture to the bone,” carefully selecting components and transferring them into the language of painting. These seemingly banal architectural fragments are aestheticized and take on leading roles within his works.
The result is a symbiotic dialogue between architecture and painting—a kind of exchange in which what is secondary to one becomes a treasure to another. And Juraj mediates this conversation with sensitivity.
